So with all this talk about Giants and jigs I have decided to "chunk some iron" at the pods of mixed fish we have been seeing popping up around the GOM while fishing,
I am going to use a Twin Spin, loaded with 50 lb Jerry Brown and one of my custom wind ons

on a Bluewater VJ3072. My question is, what hook do I put on...A "real" tuna is probably going to open anything I have, I was thinking of using one of these new 7691 Mustad assist rigs in the 6/0 (pic below is the 12/0)
Ideas???
I don't want to hear anything about knee pads and safety concerns I have giant fished more than once....I don't want Kil to lock this thread, My only concern is that the water is deep.....wish my crew luck I guess

I never used that type of double hook assist system. I really prefer single corded assist hooks, that are very strong and have a wide gap with a shorter shank. I am going to do more experimenting eith longer shank hooks like in the picture, but think it is uneccessary and give the fish more leverage. I used Jobu hooks before and did not like the results. Longer hooks seem to work better on the bottom of jigs like on diamond jigs and hookers.
