oddest bait or lure used to catch bass

This might not be so odd and some of u might have done this. This fall I went to clean out my green crab trap out and in it was a good 6 inch mantis shrimp.
I went jigging and dead sticked the shrimp in a area of the north shore were u usualy get schoolies i nailed a 30lb class on that shrimp. Nver found another one. I also used tape worms also worked incredible.
