well it was one heck of a ride out there let me say. 10-12 foot waves and the only boat out there. made me kind of nervous. when i arrived at the marina the boat was returned early from the previous trip where they only boated 7 tuna. that made me think about not going. you know taking a beating for a slow night. well anyway we got at the grounds at around 2:30 because of the rough seas. well let me just say that i was really shocked by the action. within an hour the fish started biting and i had a longfin in by 4. then after missing a few fish i hooked up with a nice yellow that beat the pants off me. a nice size one (90-100lbs) that the mate had to pull in by hand because i was so beat and after having him up to the boat and taking more line he just starting pullin it in by hand ( i am left handed and have an old black senator 6/0) after a break i went back to fishing and tried a yozuri jig. i had one nice smack that gave me a killer birds nest so i gave up on that. then i tried baiting again and to my amazement there was no morning bite, only a few flurries here and there. So i was happy with what i got since it was my first trip out this season and plenty more to go. bait of choice was sardines and i caught the fish on 80lb mono ( i forgot all my pre-tied fluoro at home thanks to rushing to get down there) capt Dail was better than i had heard him to be, most of the time Howard is the captain when i go out. Dale was out there chunkin most of the night. thanks to the crew i had a great trip and hopefully more to come!!!

Total count 65 or so tuna.. mix of yellowfin and longfin.. yummy!!!

TO wet lines
go get 'em

Nice, it must have been quite a night. I think Bogan sends that scow out no matter what the weather. I fished on the boat 2 years ago; we were the only ones out there that night. It blew a gale and by the time we left we were in 17 foot seas and had a load of yellowfins, mostly 80-100lbs. I think they like the rough weather.

tunafever, congratulation.
The area you fished is not 100 square, but the Southwest Corner. As soon as the Jamaica left in the morning, the Superhawk fishing nearby had an excellent yellowfin bites with flat lining.
