When winterizing my '86 Merc 150 the water pressure gague got stuck. It's registering max pressure and not moving at all. I took the boat out and ran it for about 1 hour at various RPM's and the gague is still stuck. I just pulled the lower unit to change the impellar and water pump. Is there a way to check the gauge while the lower unit is off? Any ideas?

Thanks

Having a water PSI guage is a very usefull guage. Most people just have a motor temp gauge. The Psi gauge alows you to acutally tell how your impeller is working. If it drops in presure sudenly you know one of the padles on the impeller is gone and time to replace. As far as the simple as the the gauge is shot. Gauges go all the time, specially the Faria gauges. What most likely happens is the spring attached to the needle went. . Nothing you can do about this just purchase a new one and dont even bother running new lines to the motor use the original.

Give it a Squirt!

WD 40.

As is go for most thing on land sea or air some WD 40 will most likly fix it. If only for a while, but then again how long would it have worked if you didnt fix it for a while until it broke again.

Can hurt it any worse than if you were gonna throw it away, thats for sure!

WD 40

WD-40® is the only other tool you need in your toolbox.
If it's not stuck and it's supposed to be--Duct Tape it!
