I AM ON FIRE BABY!

I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH SOMEONE FROM THE DEC. WE, AS COMERCIAL FISHERMAN, DONATE OUR BOATS TIME TO THE DEC, EPC, CONSTABLES ETC WHEN TEY NEED US. IT CAN BE FOR A FUNDRAISER, TO TOW OUT A LARGE VESSEL IN DISTRESS ETC.

THE GUY, MARK, ON THE PHONE WANTED TO KNOW HOW WE FELT ABOUT THE CITY OF NEW YORK SENDING OUR OLD SUBWAY CARS TO THE CAROLINA TO BUILD REEFS!!

I NEARLY FLIPPED WHEN PART OF THE DEAL WAS THE NYS WAS PAYING FOR THE SHIPPING! WHY NOT DROP THEM OFF OF LONG ISLAND 10 MILES OFF THE BEACH?

THE RESPONSE WAS THAT SOME OF THE OLD SEATS HAD ASBESTOS IN THEM. WHATS THE DIFFERENCE IF THEY ARE DROPPED OFF LONG ISLAND OR THE CAROLINAS?

THESE CARS ARE GUTTED ANYWAY SO HOW MUCH CAN ACTUALLY BE LEFT IN THE CARS?

THIS, IS HORSESH*****T!!

pLEASE VOICE YOUR OPINION TO YOUR LOCAL CONGRESSMAN!

Dolph,
Thank you local enviro wackos. They were the ones that convinced NY DEP not to use the old cars to build reefs. The transit authority offered them to NY first, and then went to other states when NY turned them down. So far they have been dropped off the coast of NJ, DE & SC.

asbestos is air borne so putting the cars in water that have asbestos in them wouldnt harm anything or anyone asbestos only affects your respitory track .. i too would like to know why they werent dropped off somewhere on long island the excuse of asbestos doesnt hold water since it's an airborne contaminent

This was a hotly debated topic recently. But MakoMike is right, seems NY has been sending these out of state due to asbestos issues. AND we've been paying for shipment. Maybe we should swap enviros with the other states.
