Back in the early 90's my Seabee Unit had a FAC team of around 12 of us that used to drill on the Intrepid and we would watch the ships come into the pier in the morning. One day, on an outgoing tide, the stern of one of the ships turning into the slip got pushed back down river and slammed into the tug-boat that used to be at the end of the Intrepid's pier pusher her into and under the end of the pier. There was a guy on board but luckily he dove inside the open hatch before the tugs rail got bent up against the bulkhead. No camera phones back in those days.
