I just so happened to pick up this unit but dont know much about it. Anyone else have any exp with it that might be able to chime in. I'm in a dilema too...I know they make a quality plotter but I think this thing might be TOO big for my boat (29 Luhrs). If im forced to unload it...What is the used value worth? Or should I just hold onto it?
Thoughts?

I have played with one on a friends boat. Its a good unit and easy to use. The only reason they are not very popular is the 6000i came out shortly after they did. Couldn't tell you what its worth but if it fits I would hold onto it unless you want the features of the 6100 like sat weather.

Ran a boat with that plotter for 3 seasons- very good machine- fast, nice screen- Only problem is it went through 2 back lights- you could only see the screen in the pitch dark went it blew- machine was useless in day light when the bulb blew- it was $400 repair at the time....

962 is a great machine. Much better charts than the 6000 or 6100. I've had all three. Don't get me wrong...the 6100 is nice, but the raster chart is just like a paper chart.

Only problem with the 962 is Northstar doesn't support it anymore. You have to go to a reputable electronics shop and they can fix it or send it to 1 of 4 companies in the US that will still work on it. Its probably worth 1500 if it is in good shape.

good luck
