Since we hope this new forum is up too date and informative. Should anybody come across a decent pod of albies/bones west of "The Golf Course/Callahans, please post the sighting. They should be in very soon, as recently I heard they were at least at Mt.Sinai. I will promise to do the same. If you prefer, no need to get too specific. Just bullet the sighting so we know its time to go searching. And remember, give plenty of room to fellow boaters, knock the engines off, and pleazzze, do not run throught the schools once their hear. God Bless America!

Shutting off motors

Actually these fish are not motor-shy and many times they are thought to be attracted to the sound as it represents an easy meal in certain instances...by-catch from draggers. The good thing for us is that we can be mobile quicker, which is so key for this style of angling.

I was at Target Rock at the begining of the ebb on Saturday and saw what appeared to be a small school of bonito popping up on peanuts. They surfaced all to infreaquently and quickly to get a fly in but they looked to be bonito and porpoised more than blues. Time will tell.

N.S.Albies

I still say, "turn off the engines" up here in the Huntington area, I've scene bozos in Scarabs running 450's while trying to catch albs. Sending them down. Anyway, a report on the "reports" section had albies along Crab & West Meadow. Havn't confirmed the Crab Meadow action. Ran over to the Golf Course Sunday on the incoming and didn't see any action. Big Blues in the Bay anyhow, first light on Crease Flies in silver and Chartruese.

A report in todays thread states,"Albies of considerable concentration" at the mouth of Cold Spring Harbor. Can anybody else confirm this? Today on my lunch hour I witnessed a mega blitz at the south end of Little Neck Bay. Looked like larger blues, perhaps bonito/albs mixed in?

Albies

Was up in Westport, CT. today and stopped in at Westport Outfitters. The fellow at the desk and Capt. Jeff Northrup mentioned Albies were working up the Saugatuck all the way under I95. That's as far up river as they can remember. Anyway, any reports from this side of the island? I'll be out tommorow and will report any visible local action.
