Hey guys,
this july i will be taking a weeks vacation down on the outer banks near the oregon inlet area, Avon, Rodanthe. Just curious if anyone here has fished down there at that time of year and what i should expect aside from hot weather. What type of fish should i pursue with the fly? I will be taking my trusty kayak, so i will be mobile on the water to a certain degree. anyway any help will be appreciated! thanks!

grouse, well nobody chimed in so I'll try to help but I'm no expert. Water temps are a big factor. I was south of there last July 4th for a week. A little south of Bogue Inlet. forget the rivers and creeks and stay close to an inlet. Lack of oxygen forced most fish seaward as water temps hit 90 in the back bays. Fish die offs happened to those that didn't move. The week before they found bass to 30lbs floating in the river? Along and close to the beach is a run of Tarpon 40 to 80lbs migrating other than that it's a pick of flounder(fluke) specs, reds and others. Nothing inshore is really happening. Almost forgot, bring some shrimp patterns and crab won't hurt either. Prospector
