Is the best access to the mouth of the river, or north shore thru Old Dock Rd.? Are any permits required?

Hi,
You need some kind of resident sticker, and once and a while they check, mostly during the day... Old Dock road is an excellent access point, you can fish the mouth to the left, the marshy areas to the right, and at low tide you can wade across to sunken meadow and fish the sandbar. If you have a NYS 4WD beach acess permit you can just park in sunken meadow's parking lot and acomplish most of the same things.
