Sticks sent an email to Senator Flanagan regarding the dredging - this was the reply:

Thank you for your e-mail regarding the dredging of the Nissequogue. We appreciate you apprising us of the situation because we were under the impression that the project had been completed, or at the very least, near completion.

Unfortunately that is not the case. We just called over to the Suffolk County Department of Works (DPW) which has jurisdiction over this project.
The County has been experiencing lingering problems with the private contractor who has been selected to complete the project. As far as timing is concerned, the contractor has indicated that the project will take six weeks. According to the County, the dredging must be completed by March 15th (8 weeks away).

We can certainly understand how residents are getting frustrated by the pace of this project. We would suggest that you call DPW directly at 631-852-4010 to inquire about the progress of the dredging project.

Let us know if we can be of any more assistance on this issue or any other.
