Newell has shipped the first batch of new P series reels, roughly 2000 reels, in both the 200 and 300 size. The 400 size reels, and 344 size reel are being assembled at this time and should ship by this week.
The new P series reels, use the S series bridge assembly, and have slight differences in the look of the right side plate around the bearing cup housing, and the reels graphite material has best been described as being shiny, as compared to his other reels. The aluminum parts, like the bars, base. spool and handle look top notch, and the gearing and drag is smooth and quiet.
It seems that Newell did not ship any of these reels to large chain tackle discounters on the west coast, and that the tackle shops that got this first run of reels, were quickly bought out. I have not heard of any reels working their way to the east coast, but i did hear this morning, that one tackle dealer in NY might have some P reels coming in this week. Price should be around 200 dollars. A quick link to one such tackle dealer selling these reels is:
