So who's going?

Spygull and I will be taking the train in one day next weekend. There is usually a special with the train ticket and entrance fee.

The LIRR has a special running.

Round trip tickets and admission is $17 for adults and $6 for kids. The Ronkonkoma station didn't have the usual sign up, so you have to ask about it.

Mr. Blazer,

A few of us braved the "big city" today to see the boats that dreams are made of. And luckily I had remembered the special that had been run in previous years. So I decided to ask about it, even though it wasn't advertised in the station. Not a bad deal.

Thank you for the compliment, but I can't help and feel that there is an air of sarcasm in your post. I am glad if I have been able to help you at all. You need all that you can get ;)

Got skeet?

Mr. Blazer is my father...

call me Matt,

Handsome and intelligent, what a combo, definately no sarcasm here, and I think that I will hold out for a show with "shamrock" boats, afterall the osprey has that hump where the motor is, and I still dont buy the horse hooey about half exposed props with that particular trim tab set up.

An idle mind is the devils playground!

But seriously

I thought that the show was nice, well organised, with lots of boats, but a little lighter in the tackle / gadget department.

All in all a nice way to spend the day.

The J.R.C. guys had some very innovative radar equipment.

Mattyblazer and anyone else who has already gone to the NYC boat show:
One of my clients is looking for a sailboat. Did they have any there and if so, was it a large selection? From the list of exhibitors, it didn't seem like too much, and I would hate to drag him in and not find anything.
As for me, I'm going anyway at some time and getting my power-fix.
Thanks

Capt. Tom,

I did notice a couple of them, but it wasn't a big selection.

Yea, even though they didn't have the specific boats I was looking for, they had a pretty good turnout for fishing, pleasure and even ski boats. And it seemed like much less in the tackle and gadget dept. There was only one vendor for the drill that will drill through anything and never get dull.

Word of warning, don't go to the TGI Fridays by Penn unless you are willing to pay 2X as much for your food.

Doughboy,
Thanks for the info on the show. May look for a sail show to bring this client to. Always fun to get on some of the bigger boats and see the new features.
Capt Tom

PS Thanks for the TGIF tip. Did that once, and never again. Ouch!

Went to the show today with my son and I really was not impressed. As doughboy said there seemed to be a lot less vendors with goodies.Thats the stuff I enjoy looking at.Very little on fishing equipment, alot of embroidered shirts and hats, jewlery, dock lines, chamois and mops. There was a few booths set up with electronics, two booths with tuna lures and a few with rescue rafts. Can't wait for the Freeport show, alot more toys there.

That is why it's called at BOAT SHOW

and not a Tackle/Sportsman show.
They never have huge displays of tackle and gear at the Boat shows.
Only a small % of the people who go to these shows are looking for fishing tackle.
Most of the boats are not even fishing boats. They are mostly cushion boats.
If you want gear go to the Sportsman show in Freeport or the National Sportsman Show up in Sullivan County College.

Sail Boats

Captain Tom,

I don't have the exact link. But if you type in "New York Boat Show" in any search engine(google, yahoo..etc) You will get the link. Go to exhibit hall. When you pass over the different sections of the trade show floor it will tell you what manufacturers are there. Their are definetely some sail boat companies but most are power boats.
