With all the new rules and regs about using all circles for billfish has anyone developed any quicker ways to rig there doing it the right way?

I can not stand using the floss to rig these with the snells hooks!

not liking it at all but trying to conform myself.

might sound like a stupid question but how many guys are targeting marlin? I have no plans for changing my lures our or changing how I rig bally. My target is tuna and marlin as a bonus. I have managed to release (health) about 20 that I have caught on j hooks

Maybe if I am in a marlin tourney or over in the bahamas but that is it.

I think I recently saw an article within the past few months on ways to rig trolling baits for billfish in either Marlin Mag or Saltwater Water Sportsman.

Current issue of Big Game has an article on rigging live baits.

hahhaa put nothing in there. lol

I meant to say that i am totally with oyu and the j hooks.. but find that when i fish the MA500 and the WMO or any other White marlin tourney the hook up ratio is slightly better as some say.. Also they are not manditory which i do not like but do not mind i guess!

when I use live bait be it for sails, tuna or what ever, I prefer to use a circle hook. It goes without saying that I exclusively use them while chunking up here. I think everything has its time and place.

If you catch a 80 lb white on a small setup, you run the risk of killing the fish no matter what hook you use. Guess that is my point and I am in no way disagreeing with anyone here, YET!

That snap tool looks pretty cool, anything that encourages my lazy nature I'm for it hahahah

Sometimes when we're feeling lazy kite fishing with live bluefish instead of using floss for a bridle we just use heavy duty zip ties which we cut to a sharp point...you just run the zip tie through the top of the eye socket and zip tie the hook right to the head of the bluefish...it makes the bluefish go crazy cuz they can feel the zip tie

I just run a rubber band through the eye socket of the blue or bunker and set it up that way, a couple of twists and then back through, np. I skip the kite cause that is more work. Keep the bait alive and you just greatly increased your odds.
