Last winter I posted a message about being a new fly fisherman and
Stated that I have a 5wt Berkley rod. I also said that I wanted to do salt water fly fishing because Long Island sound is closer than Roscoe, New York. OK so let me update everyone. I just purchased a 10 wt Sage rod with a Scientific Anglers 1011 reel. I used the advice that I received from this message board. Now I just need some one to help me with my casting technique. I am on vacation this week because I am a teacher in NYC. I also live in New Rochelle and I can meet anyone at Hudson Park. Once again thanks for all the great advice.

Tom,

I'm just starting my second season with SWFF. My only suggestion is to take a lesson at a fly shop to get the basics, and then practice, practice, practice on the water or off. You might also consider joining the Salty Flyrodders of New York. They always practice casting on the lawn before their monthly meetings at the Queens Botanical Garden and you can always get casting advice from elder members there.
