Hey People,
I recently purchased my first boat. I was wondering if there are good marine supplies stores around Brooklyn. I need to buy a pair if rudder zincs several stainless bolts, ropes, etc...
I'd really appreciate your input.
Regards,

Hi, IOFFE, and welcome to the club.

You can get that stuff at Bay End, on 68th street, south of Ave. U, in Mill Basin....or Venice Marina, immediately off the Knapp St. West exit of the Belt Parkway.

They're a bit pricey, by internet standards. I do my shopping online (I have an inboard). If you want, I'll send you some links.

I actually prefer to buy stuff online as well. However I'd love to install zincs on my trim tabs this weekend. Meteorologists promised very good weather. Let's hope they are right this time. I am fine if I'll pay $10 extra bucks.
However I need to find fenders, ropes, dock bumpers (first boat duh;)) and good cleaning brush.
Also I think my trimtab zinc on '95 Merc 200 EFI must be replaced. Where can i find Merc OEM parts?

Merc parts can be found at:

www.mercurypartsexpress.com

You can't actually buy them there - it hooks you up with a local dealer; you can order online, but need to pick up or have shipped from them. This way still tends to be a little cheaper, it prevents dealers from charging above retail - which most do, but you pay shipping.. all even in the end. The nice thing is you can price everything out, get diagrams, and locate local dealers etc..

Most zincs though can be bought aftermarket through BOATUS or WestMarine - www.westmarine.com or www.boatus.com . They actually stock a large portion of this in BOATUS stores.

Another good one for aftermarket is "precision mfg":

www.precisionmfgsales.com

They are in clearwater florida; mail orders and an excellent cheap selection of refurbed & aftermarket, the place to go for expensive black-boxes, stators, PT/T parts etc.. Fill out their dealer form & get a catolog.
