Wassup noreast.com,

I'm new to boatin in general, and wanna take my girl across our pond to Port Jefferson. I figure this would be a good place to start. But I need a cheap transient slip overnight, and a few (safe) spots where I can throw some plugs. Also, some cool stuff to do with girlie for our first trip to Port Jeff.

Any reccomendations fellas?

I'm leaving from staven, CT so It should be a quick jump across.

GO ISLANDERS!

Your Buddy,
DIZZ

I'm a Rangers Fan so I almost didn't respond out of habit....

But I had Google Earth Opened, so you were in luck...

1. I don't think there's any CHEAP transient slips in Pt. Jefferson. Call Danforths to find out what they've got. You may have to put yourself on a mooring for "cheap."

2. Setauket Yacht Club has moorings and launch service for $45 a night. They are back in the southeast corner of Pt. Jeff Harbor, not stuck in Setauket Harbor.

3. You could also anchor up in "Pirates Cove" which is the cove just past the inlet on the east side.

4. Fishing, tons of great spots. Eastern shore of the harbor back by Setauket Yacht Club heading back towards the harbor entrance great place to toss plugs for bass. The "narrows" of Conscience Bay another great spot to fish.

RJ: You're Fight On...

The most critical thing was for the Ranger team doc to get Jagr's Midol dosage correct. Absolute wuss! I am not sorry to see him go.

Dizz go online and find out where you can find the Mariner's Embassy Guide. My buddy bought it a few years ago. It has like every major port, private, public, town maintained, etc. Transient slip info, phone numbers, prices, VHF channels. Great book to have. There are a few places you can get in PJ Harbor. A good spot to fish is Misery Shoal just to the east of the PJ Harbor entrance. It should be on any chart of the area.

As far as I'm concerned 1940 will never die. The Rangers bought the Cup in '94 and the chicken dance song always brings a smile to my face.

"If you know the Rangers suck clap your hands . . . ."
