I will be able to pick up a used VS250 for a song.

Now I will need to match a good surf rod to it.

Wanted something that was:
* 10'-11' in length
* 1 or 2 piece
* able to handle Tins and Plugs up to 3oz.

Is there anything that could be used on both the North and South Shores of L.I. ?

Considered a custom but want something to use ASAP.
Will take suggestions on blanks for a future custom rod.

id definitley go to terminal tackle in kings park.. i looked at ro0ds there recently and they got some pretty good deals, idk wat they got but u might wanna check it out

Hi,

Not knowing your experience level I will start with this.

Most North Shore rods are 8' and 9' long. South Shore rods are normally 10' and 11' long. Of course any rod could be used and you do see examples on the beach.

There are many fine factory surf rods out there. Go to any B&T that has beach fisherman as customers and you can get all the info you need. For example, J&J in Patchogue, Stan's in Rocky Point, Causeway in Wantagh, Terminal Tackle in Kings Park and there are many other shops that can assist. These shops came to mind quickly.

I would post this same question in the Surf Fishing Forum as they are the guys using the rods. You have many options.

My apologies as I realize my request may have been quite general in nature.
I've fished all my life, only been surf fishing seriously for the last four years. Mostly north shore but do go to the south shore and east end a few times a year.
I'll need to stop in at some of the local B&T's to ask ?s and take a look.
