I just bought a 7000i CS Abu Garcia Pro Rocket. I'm looking for a good rod to match it up with. I never casted conventional before, and figured I can practice before the season starts.

I saw for sale a Penn 9812H Spinfisher rod, any idea on this one? Or if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. Also what kind of line would you recommend spooling the reel with. My goal is maximum cast distance, without worrying about the line breaking when fighting a big fish.

Any suggestions?

I don't know anything about the rod you posted on but by the name alone (Spinfisher)I take that to be a spinning rod.You want to be looking for a conventional rod.If you can give more info someone will be able to help you.What are you using the rod for?Plugging-throwing lures 1-3oz or tossing bait up to 8oz lead+bait.Where will you be fishing-open beach,jetty,inlet,back bay?Answers to these questions will help people to make a recomendation.Hope this helps you.ps include price range you want to spend

Abu 7000i CS Pro Rocket

I have this reel: - this is comparatively large physically: bigger than a Newell 229, Penn 525 mag, Torium 16. I use this reel on a Lamiglass Surf King SS 11 MHC. The reel is big for plugging but ideal for chunking.

I will be using this rod to cast chunks from the beach. Typically I throw out 6 ounce sinkers and a chunk of bunker. Thanks!

not sure on your budget but look at the lami XS11MHC....sweet rod...ive had bad experinces with the surf king rods...cheap blanks and guides...
