I fished for the first time with my brothers boat off Nassau Point, near buoy #22 and caught Progies. Is this same location good at any time of the season for Fluke, Stripers and Weaks? Let me know if you fish this area or somewhere close by. Thanks

Early in the season I fish the South Race (May-June) area from buoy 22 through 28 (mostly 26-28) for fluke. The drift can sometimes be too fast, so you might have to drag your anchor close to bottom to slow you down.

Weakfish are also caught from Nassau Point over to Rose Grove early in the season.

Mid-summer usually brings tons of porgies. Anything else caught is usually a surprise bycatch.

Never fished there late in the season (post mid-September) so I can't comment on that.

Nassau Pt. and Roses Grove are good areas for weaks. Some by catch are King Fish. The area is good for fluke but a short run to the Greenlawns area (off Shelter Island is great in the spring but usually drops dead by July. Jessups Neck (buoy 17) is good for Blues, some weaks and fluke also a striper or two.West of Robbins Island has weaks and fluke by Rogers Rock in the early part of the season. Shinne**** Bay is not a bad ride unless the boat is really small(Weaks, fluke bass, blues etc.
