i want to put a second fishfinder on the boat, at the stern,so when someone else is driving. i can see whats down there. without having to constantly look over my shoulder.and squint at the color machine up in the electronics box.
i have a second, sounder-triplog-speed-timer- watertemp-usless{dosn't work},digital readout on the dash already. with seperate thru hull transducer{you can see it just to the left of the wheel}.
when i turn it on it interferes with the "color machine", looks like 'tuna' red slashes all over the screen.
i would like to put a another finder at the stern, on this one's thru hull transducer , without interference. and put a remote stereo controll or somethig more usfull in it's place.

would a frequency difference clear this up?
how about two different screens on the same transducer?

I have two identical color fish finders. One is up on the bridge the other is in the ****pit. One is 50/200 khz frequency and the other is 38/50 khz frequency. The only time I have a problem is when they both are operating in the 50khz frequency or dual frequency mode.

can i put another machine on this ones transducer{bronze thru hull w/ speed} or do i have to get a different transducer?
this sounder{the useless one} has no picture just didgital read out
i'm not sure of the freq. but can there be that much difference in transducers, from manufacture to manufacture?
if it's the right freq. than it should work with another{picture} machine... right?
maybey a different plug adapter?
bronze thru-hull's are big bucks and ive already go two of them installed on the boat

Fishingfreak,
I am not positive, you my want to ask this in the"Ask the Pro's" Forum but I don't think you can run two transducers on the same frequency without causing damage to the units.Better check first.

Freak,
Almost all of the thru hull transducers are made by one company, Airmont. Odds are no matter what the brand of depthfinder you have an Airmont transducer. You need to check with the depth sounder companies to see if you can get a "repeater" this is a unit that doesn not send out its own signals, just repeats the information the main depth sounder outputs. I think Raytheon makes one. Most of the "black box" sounders now on the market use repeaters to display the information coming from the black box. The big question is whether or not you current unit can output a signal to a repeater.

sounders..

You are gonna need 2 different frequencies if you want to use 2 machines at the same time.

As far as splitting the signal to 2 different displays...you are not supposed to cut the transducer cables, would probably be asking for trouble. I don't recommend it.

If you buy a dual frequency for your stern, you can run it at a frequency that the front is not running at and you will have no more problems.

Hope this helps.

If you have a 50/200kHz unit up at the helm, then buy yourself a 120kHz Sitex CVS-106 Mk II for the second station and then they will not cross talk.

Problem solved.

I have what Lep described and that works fine , but you may not have to do any of this . You should be able to get a second monitor for picture only and mount it in the back of the boat . All off the unit you have . If I understand you correct you just want a monitor in the back so you don't have to look up front . This my be an option . I have a friend who hooked up an old monitor he had laying around and it works great and its a totally different company .

I stated that this is an option but you have to find out how to do this . I know its done I just never gave it much thought so I couldn't tell you how to wire it at this time .

I'm no electronics guru, but I would think that a multiplexer, not a reaper would be required for that second monitor.

My head hurts just thinking of the watt/volt/impedence issues that need to be addressed.

its a "koden" chromascope

on the left here .
and yes all i want is another screen at the stern. so i dont have to keep looking over my shoulder as you can see the color machine is up in the box overhead so when your at the stern fishing its tough to see.
