Well, after striking out on the striper trip, and not getting any bass for Robby (except the one I hooked and handed to him), we had to get the kids some fish on our last day. I dug up some worms in the back yard (and surrounding woods, braving copperheads) and took the kids down to the lake Robby-7, Madison-4, Devin-4 and Lara-3 for some bluegills. I actually got the kids into fish! I think I found fishing that I can handle, bluegills on worms The kids had a blast, Robby was the only one that has caught fish before, and everyone caught multiple fish (Robby of course was live-lining bluegills looking for bass down the other end of the lake. The were there, but spawning, and not interested in anything we threw at them). Lets face it, I had fun. It was great getting 3 kids their first fish before they were 5 years old. Each will be fishing more now... Did have to watch the kids VERY closely though, there are water moccasins everywhere. I kept the kids on the docks and paths, and taught them to walk loudly (wasnt hard for them to do, but we spooked the bass as well as the snakes). Was a spotted Gar in the lake, I couldnt get him to even turn his head; the fish was like 36". There were some big bass too, I dont have any pics of the 2-3lbers we caught on Thursday, didnt get any for the rest of the trip. I could see 8lbers in the water!! Couldnt interest them in anything.
