I'm planning a two-day trip to Montaulk later this month. Can anyone recomend a place to stay close to the point. No flea-bags but it doesn't need to be the Waldorf either. Just a clean basic room. Any help would be appreciated.

There are a number of decent motels in Montauk. The closest one the the point is called the East Deck. It is on the south side in Ditch Plains, and you can actually walk right out of your room and fish to the east where there are a lot of rocky areas. You can also try the Royal Atlantic, which is right in town, and a close walk to the restarants and bars in town. There are a number of other places, but either of these will serve you well. The Royal Atlantic is the nicer of the two, but also a little more expensive.
