I DONT AGREE
Report Date: MECCA 10/11 continued! Fishing Report: After dropping off my charter I had a good breakfast at Salivars, and it was off to the North side. Fishing beside me was the old crew, Charlie Ruger, Bill Dickinson, UPS Ritchie, along with the rest of the gang. We busted each other chops about how we all only catch bass, but most of us were into blues. A couple of bass with the gang, and I was off doing my own thing, fishing a great tide with beautiful white clean water on another North side spot. The problem was presenting my offering in the correct water column. To hit the water column the cast had to be very strong and very accurate with a 25 knot cross wind. Casting into the wind gave accuracy, but not enough distance. Casting with the wind created a bow in the line, and did not allow me to work any plugs properly including tins. About 1 in 5 cast landed on the mark. Frustrating yet fun! I managed 4 bass all in the low teens. By 4pm I found myself walking deeeeeep into the south side. Before making the walk Donny SS Musso, and I argued about the fish being on the south side. Don felt that the fish had pushed the white bait out of the surf zone, and would not return due to the rough surf. My feeling was the opposite, in that I believed that bait would be pushed in, there was still left over bait from the morning madness, there was a good possibility of large b/c the blitz fish were not showing, and with the hard East wind conditions and tides were perfect. I must have been one of only 3 people who thought that way because everyone was on the North side for the evening bite. So off I went into the deeeeeeeeeeeeep south. Immediately I was into bass with 11/2 oz white bucks and black rind. By about the 10th bass, the bite suddenly turned off, and I was going without a hit for about 20 minutes. I switched to the 3oz AL Gags pencil bunker pattern and I proceeded to bang about 25 more bass into the upper tees. What a day! As far as numbers, this had to be in the top 3 of all time. Over 300 bass for the day! Holy crap! Stay tuned! See the picks in the BALL. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Report Date: Montuak MEYHEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10/11 Fishing Report: I took Lew Silver out from 4am -10am for the trip of his life. No heave on the North side, so we hit the south side with east winds and plenty of white water. 4am-10am and non stop fish. We banged well over 200 stripers to about 16 lbs. Bucktails, bucktails, bucktails!! Need I say more? I'll put some picks up in the forum later. At times the water was dark with fish, on white bait. I remember telling Lew this may be a great day!!! It was one to remember. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Report Date: MEECA to 10/10 Fishing Report: SATURDAY 2am-8am, NE winds about 25-30 knots, clear skies?I took Eliot Brook and his buddy Stuie out for some surfcasting. Eliot is about 24 years old, 6?5?, with a monster cast. We hit the North side first, but Stuie was not up to fishing a big heave in the middle of the night. That was too bad, because I thought the fish would have been there. Next North side spot was with the winds more at our backs. No fish there. We eventually got deeeeeeeeeeeeep on the south side finding nothing in the dark. By light we picked about 10 white water schoolies to about 30?. Breakfast at Salivars, and sleeping in my buggy at 10am, and up for reel repair at 1pm. At 4pm I met up with John Akin from Atlanta Georgia. I could not go hard-core with John, as he was not one to climb on the rocks. We hit a North side spot where I could utilize the North side heave, combined with flooding water creating some real nice white water, where the bass should have been lined up. They were! WE managed about 10 bass in the light on SS little neck poppers and the NEW AL GAGS bunker colored 3oz pencils. All nice fish to 18 lbs. We must have dropped another 10. By dark we managed two more bass in the mid- teen range on SS darters. Before the trip we were both in agreement not to fish blitz fish with a thousand people on them. That is my kind of agreement! After doing the three S?s I was in my buggy past out by 11pm. Up again at 4:30am SUNDAY for my 5:30 am ?11:30am charter with Wade, and his wife Roberta from Vermont. Wade had some experience and Roberta needed a helping hand. By light both were casting well, and into stripers. We fish the North side again utilizing the heave and flood water. Roberta got into her first ever striper on a Tattoo, silver, metal lip. Wade also managed a few stripers. I banged a 29lber on the Gags, 3 oz pencil, bunker pattern. That felt good! Eventually I took the couple deeeeeeeeeeeeep on the south side. I figured it was a nice walk, away from crowds, and I just might be able to put them on a Montauk blitz. No blitz but we did manage another couple stripers, Roberta buck tailed one that was very excited about. Upon our departure I found myself back at Salivars for breakfast. By this time I was feeling it, especially in my wrist and knee. Crawled in the buggy bed at about12:30pm-1: 30 pm. Met up with John Aiken again at 2pm-8pm. Zero wind with the heave still on. We hit the back bays of Napeague to do a little sight fishing. Lots of bait back their folks. Snappers, juvenile weakfish, white bait, spearing- a **** smorgasbord. WE did see fish, but by the time we were on them they were spooked. By 4:30pm we were back over to the North side. Once again I decided to fish the heave, and stay away from the blitzes. I knew that they were probably happening in turtles?later I got word they were there?blues and schoolies. WE banged about 5 or 6 bass into the teens on Gags pencils and SS little neck poppers. I took note of cormorants working the area, and was pretty excited about a night bite. It was really tough to find a dinner with out a wait. Eventually I found myself in Shag eating a burger. Have not had one of those in a while. After the three S?s I was in buggy by10: 30pm. Up at 1am for my MONDAY 2 am charter with Mark Deangelos and his bud Tye. OH yeah!!?time to fish at night with eels. WE fished the north side area where I had seen the cormorants earlier. Mark was immediately pelted by a 2l lber, and later by a 22 lber. WE had a few other smaller low teen fish as well. Only one fish in the day on a tattoo metal lip. After the charter I was psyched to get some serious sleep. In my buggy past out by 10:30 am, and up again at 2pm- for many many repairs, for my 4pm-10pm charter, with bothers John and Chris Ivorone. WE immediately got deeeeeeeeeeeep on the south side, to find beautiful fishy big water, with SW winds, a chop, and a heave. YUMMY! No fish in it??? John was wearing a cheapo pair of waders for the walk in, and was in severe pain. Man I could relate what the young man was going through! NIGHT TIME?Ya hooo! We again hit the North side to fish the flood heave. We found about ½ dozen bass between 12 and 16 lbs on eels, and Big water black fish pattern metal lips. Another solid night of decent fish. Back in my buggy by about 1:30pm and up again at 2:30am for my TUESDAY 3pm charter with Mike Lockhart and his buddy Max. Over to the North side again to fish the heave. UHHHH ?ohhhh, no heave!! No heave = one schoolie. Time to change gears! Over to the south side to fish the flood white water. We had schoolie stripers to ourselves for a good half hour banging about 25 total on 11/2 oz bucks. By 9am it was time to go home to see my wife and dog. Every one of my charters seemed to ask me if I still enjoy fishing, as it is my job. Well, this morning, I heard the rumble of a million rocks, turned over by clean white water waves. Each of the rocks had there own brilliant color and could probably tell a thousand tales, if only they could speak. I watched the sun stretch her arms, as stripers feed at my feet in the Lords own bubble bath. The pain in my knee, and wrist, my tired limbs, and my cut up hands, only assured me that there was no place else I would rather be. I?ll be back at 4am?Stay tuned!! Fishing Report:
My Charter was from 5-11pm with a couple of Montauk first timers from Jersey. SE winds about 25 knots with periods of rain. Nice wind! After some casting instruction we hit the south side and found fish rolling in the wash. It was very hard to get through the weed, but we managed 3 bass to about 12lbs on white bucktails and white Danny plugs. I got word that there was a good blitz on the south side before we arrived?white bait being the on the menu. What I would have liked to do was to get deeeeeeeeeep into the some south side night rocks, as I know there would be fish there on a night like this. My charter however was not quit up to that stage in the game, so we hit the North side to see if we could find some resident fish. We banged 3 more bass on eels to13, 16 & 17 lbs, and my charter dropped a cow, as I heard the drag scream, and my drags aint lose. Back over to the south side at about 9:45pm for no more fish. If ya see a black SS darter with yellow eyes floating around out there, give me a call?my tip broke causing my line to fray and break! Stay tuned. Pics up later in the ball!

Fishing Report:
This weekend is a tough one to remember?? SATURDAY 5am-11am I took Bob Groupe and his buddy Felix out. We began on the North side in the dark with light west winds. WE managed 1 or 2 bass to about 30 inches on white BOB HAHN metal lips. We bounced around chasing North side blitzes, but the fish were moving very fast. Over to the south side. From the bluffs we saw nice pods of fish, but by the time we got there they had vanished. Completely vanished! Now this really got my attention. Usually after a blitz I can pick fish, many times quality fish. However in this case they vanished. What was I thinking? Where is the resident bait? We did pick two more small bass on bucktails in another south side location. In my buggy by 12:30 pm and completely passed out until 2pm. I woke up and did know where I was! My Next charter was with Bob Burlas from Rhode Island. I really wanted to show Bob an his buddy what Montauk was all about, but was troubled by a gale west wind, and lack of found fish. WE got deeeeeeeeeeeeep on the south side for 1 keeper sized bass on an 11/2 oz white on white bucktail. The it was bouncing around from spot to North side spot, trying to get the team to cast in the gale under the stars. Not an easy task for anyone! No more fish the rest of the night. At this point I was really thinking hard about the resident bait, and the apparent disappearance of resident fish. I also noted that I had not seen much of snappers, mullet or even spearing in the couple of weeks. These baits are truly resident Montauk early fall baits. Spearing will usually hold the entire season. Anyway, it was back to the buggy and in bed by 11:30pm to be up in the cold at 4am. BRRRRRRRRRR. I hate crawling out of my buggy into cold wet waders at 4 in the morning. But there are fish to be caught!! The next charter was from 5am to11am with Richard Mischkin and his daughter Beth Anne --light NW winds. We began on the North side throwing darters in the dark, but could not even manage a tap. By light we bounced around on the north side and followed the blitzes that at one point moved close enough to bang one bass on a 3 oz Gags Pencil. WE eventually checked out most of the south side including all the sand beaches to Napeague. At that point I decided to break out the light tackle, and fish some flats in Napeague bay. One more blue fish. You talk about fish clearing out! The interesting thing was the lack of bait there. Just last week there were loads of mullet, spearing, snapper and even juvenile weakfish. I saw next to none on this morning. Later my wife and I took a ride to Shelter Island. Plenty of spearing there, and perhaps snappers as well. What does all this mean? It means that most of the resident Montauk fish have moved on, because the resident bait has moved. To me this is confirmed by the blitz fishing being completely dead after a blitz, the absence of bait I am finding in the night surf, and the absence of bait in Napeague Bay. There is still plenty of white bait around making the fishing very hit and miss?100 fish one day and zero the next-despite working areas that should be holding fish. Will this pattern continue? I doubt it. There is still a lot of bait in most of our bays which the next E-N/E winds will push out. More bait should find shelter in Montauks boulder ridden areas, and passing fish will hold to these areas as long as the bait holds. At least that is my hope! Stay tuned!

Fishing Report:
I will make this a short as possible as I am in-between charters. I?ll give a full report in Tuesday. The fishing has been very good to me in Montauk. I say to me, because many casters seem to be complaining of a lot of smaller fish. I believe these complaints are mostly from blitz fisherman. For those that have utilized the heave combined with the better tides, I expect that they too have done well. SATURDAY 2am-8am?We had about 10 schoolies on the south side in the day light on white bucktails. Big heave with NE winds. 4pm-10pm ? We had about 10 bass to 18 lbs mostly in teen and upper teen. Gags pencils and SS little neck poppers did the job in the day on SS darters in the dark? All north side. SUNDAY 530-11:30am?We banged about 7 or 8 bass to 29 lbs on pencil poppers and bucktails on the North side. 2pm-8pm?Lots of fish and bait in the back bays!! Sight fishing did not yield any though. Back over to the Norht side. We banged about 5 or six bass into the low teens on the North side. Monday 2am-8am?North side?We banged a 22 & 21 on eels, along with a few smaller fish 10-12 lbs. If ya come out, I recommend working the tides as much as possible. Blitz fishing is only getting ya blitz fish?BUT there aint nothing wrong with blitz fish!! Be home tomorrow for a full report. Out again today at 3pm, then again at 3am.. Stay tuned!!

AS I right this report at 5:43 pm Friday, Montauk is hot with many bigger fish around. I?ll be there at 2am!! Anyway, last night I took out John Landers to the Fire Island inlet area from 5pm-8pm. Light east winds and clear skies. Lots of bait around. Looked like mullet and white bait. WE only managed one schoolie on an 11/2 oz white bucktail. That place is going to bust loose!! Maybe busting loose right now with this wind?? Get out there!!!!!
Report Date: 10/4 MECCA-- OPENINGS!
Fishing Report:
Well last night was interesting!! I took my charter out from 5pm -11pm with W /SW winds about 20-25 knots, and clear skies. The mullet and snappers that have been around for the past few weeks seemed to be non existent, not much spearing either. We began on the north side to find no fish. The word from regular crazy Bill was-- slooooow today. We hit the south side around dusk. Nothing. Back over to the North side moving around waiting for the right tide to fish one north side spot in particular. We only came away with 3 schoolies on 11/2 bucks, and light blue SS darters. Here is the interesting part. Before departing, my customer said ?be safe and look out for deer?, which is something I say to most of my charters when we depart. I just get out of town, pushing 50mph, and WHACK! Did not see the deer coming. My Vesco rack was totaled, but the buggy survived. Went to Vesco this morning and got a new one. Can?t miss a beat this time of year! Hard NE wind from today until Sunday this weekend. This may put some large on the beaches!!! Get out there. South Shore tonight?Stay tuned!--- OPENINGS---- I have two opening for Montauk. 10/10 3pm-9pm and 10/11 4am ? 10am. Give me a call if you are interested. 631-987-6919

5:30- 11:30pm, SW winds about 15-20 knots and clear skies. Nice warm night. I took out fellow subscriber Ryan Dunaske who is a rat with some experience. We stayed on the North side the entire night, moving around from spot to spot fishing the tides. The first spot we hit Ryan dropped a decent fish on an eel. The second spot I banged a low teen bass and a big blue on yellow SS darters and SS bottle plugs. I let Ryan know I was waiting on a tide for another spot, and at about 10pm I expected the fishing to pick up. It sure did! We hit the next spot and immediately were into stripers on yellow SS darters. With a moon over head, it was a good night for bucktailing, and if I could bang em on bucks, there would be no need for flashlights. One hook wonders! Wack!!-- bucktails at night, bucktails at night-oh oh---oh oh----oh oh oh oh. That?s a little song I like to sing. We banged about 50 stripers up to about 18lbs, most of them in the 5-10 lb range. Back out tonight. Stay tuned!!!!

Fishing Report:
This was the first time I had ever booked someone to fish the Montauk Classic with me. Fellow subscriber Andy Fabbo is in the coast guard, experienced, and hardy fisherman. Thank goodness, because we were about to get into some very hard fishin. FRIDAY ?SATURDAY 7pm-8am. Upon meeting Andy I gave fair warning that I had been listening to The Who station on my Sirius radio, and for some reason just could not shut it off. Thankfully, Andy liked Pete Townsend and the boys. WE had had light NW winds and clear skies. Normally I would say NW = great fishing, however it was not enough of a blow to make things great, and too much of a blow for the North side spot I wanted to target. The first North side spot produced one small bass; the second North side spot produced 5 or 6 bass. Every time we were into a bass I would shout ?THE WHO?, and Andy responded, ?It is the Who.? Somehow this slightly psychotic transfer of information kept us going the entire weekend. I told Andy of a floodwater north side spot that not many know about, so off we went. The rip had not set up right and by11: 30pm we were out of there to fish another North side spot. Why all these north side spots you ask? Lots of bigger bait on the north side in the way of snappers and mullet. South side is seeing a lot of blitz bait. The next North side spot produced an 18, a 16, and a 14, on eels. Little did I know, I could have placed in the tourney with the 18, but I figured it was just too small and threw is back. WE hit the deeeeeeeeeeeeeep south side by 4am. Not a touch in the dark! I could not believe it. By light we were into blitzing schoolies and had about a total of 30 fish by 8am. Andy convinced me to have some breakfast. I thought about skipping breakfast, because I was just so tired, but I am glad I ate! Salivars was the breakfast of choice. By 10 am I was crashed out in my buggy far away from the crowds in the lot. I was back up at 3pm to shower, eat, and get ready for the next long night. By 4:30pm Andy and I were in front of Johnny?s B&T getting ready. John sarcastically said, ?you can?t beat 23 pounds?? (23lbs was the leader) You?re a guide you know everything?. To top it off my wife phoned me, and put more pressure on. ?23 pounds, you can beat that? she said. I thought we could too??? By 5pm we were about to embark on some hard-core fishin until 8am the next morning. At 5pm the winds were from the SW which were perfect for the North side spot I wanted to hit at high flood, however it turned hard SE /East later that night. We began on the sand beaches, and found plenty of decent structure, but no fish. Back over to the lot to learn that Foul Mouth Bob and the NJ gang were having a lobster fest. The things I sacrifice for fishin! By dark we were on the North side to some semi/ secret rocks, but only managed one small bass on an eel. We bounced to the next North side spot, for maybe one bass?? Andy dropped a decent bass on a SS stubby needle. A word of advice. Any plug from Don Musso?just buy it! By about 10:30 pm it was time to fish the area I had been thinking about most. We banged it until about 2:30am without a tap. Go figure. I wish I had my SW winds! By this time the winds were almost gale East/ SE, with rain starting. Back in the buggy with The Who keeping us awake, we decided to sleep until 3:30am to catch the beginning of the ebb. Andy stayed in his full gear in the front seat. I stripped down because I put a hole through my waders with a darter, while out on a rock. I crawled in my buggy bed, only to get up again at 3:30am and fishin again by 4am. We hit a high ebb North side spot and found three quick stripers all around 14 lbs on eels. NOT ENOUGH! By 5am it was time to get deeeeeeeeeeeep again, and we found ourselves talking about The Who and walking into the wild white water of the South side. 6-8 foot sets, sloppy and white. Just the way I like it!!! It screamed big fish. During the walk in we found fellow subscriber George Bowen with a SS dater through his finger. Andy being in the coast guard took over and git the hook out. George sat down for a few minutes and went back onto his rock perch in the wild white water. Way to go George! Upon our arrival, the leader of the tourney (GARY THE TOAD) was already there perched on a rock throwing bucktails in the exact water column I wanted to fish. I screamed over the roar of the surf ?anything?? The Toad shrugged his shoulders, and his face told it all. A pick of small fish. I picked 3 or 4 schoolies on 11/2 oz red on white bucks, and by 8am we were walking back to the truck. What a great time I had with Andy, and after all that fishin I guess he got his moneys worth. I?ll be back out tomorrow ?Stay tuned!!!

Fishing Report:
Took Pete Goodman from London and his 73 year old Pop Franz out for there first time surfcasting. I warned Pete that we did not have a good tide, or time of day for a beginner, but we powered through it anyway. 5-11pm, light SW winds and clear skies. We stayed very mellow the whole night fishing the North side. We managed a small bass and a couple of blues on SS darters. I think Pete and Franz both learned a little something and had a god time. I know I had a god time. Montauk Classic this weekend. Lots and lots of fish around! Sleep all day fish all night. Forget about blitz fishing is my advise, although blitz fishing should be good. Good luck!

Fishing Report:
Where to begin? Where am I? Who am I? Are these my hands, so cut up and dry? I guess so cause they sure do hurt! Just trying to give ya a feel, as to where my head is. Here is what I remember. SATURDAY at 1am I arrived for my 1am to 7am charter. No Show! Probably a god thing as I needed sleep. Of course I went out anyway. I bounced around on the North side for a bit. Nothing hard-core, just easy fishing. Hard SW winds. Finally went to bed at 3am, only to be up at 5am-8:am to catch a little morning bite on the North and or south sides. I hit them both, but came away empty. Again nothing hard core, just trying to get in some easy fishing. SW winds building along with the water. I ate my breakfast at Salivars, took a shower and was sleeping in the buggy by 11am. Up at 3:30pm to get ready for my 4pm-10pm charter with Richard Mishkin. I cannot remember where we started but I got word of some blitzes on the south side. We found a huge blue blitz on white bait. After Richards fill of blues maybe 30 or 40 on bucktails, I requested that we look for some bass. WE made a little walk to fish bluefish leftovers, and found about a dozen bass to about 28? on White on white bucktails. Richard is not one to aggressively wade, so by night we took it easy, but found no more fish. By 11pm I was back in the lot. For some reason I had a little trouble sleeping as of late. Foul Mouth Bob gave me the sure cure. Bourbon and a beer. By 12am SUNDAY we were arguing about Montauks bait movement. ?Common Bob you know nothing about Montauk. You Live in New Jersey.? F*&^ you, ya F*&%N C sucker. You young guys don?t know S*&%t? Bob responded. This went on until about 1am. Along side us, listening to this rhetoric was a new comer to Montauk surf casting, 22 year old Eric, also from New Jersey. Suddenly I announced, ? the tide is good, there are fish, I?m hittin it.? Bob pulled me to the side and asked if I would take Eric with me to show him the ropes a little bit. Great minds think alike, b/c I was going to ask Eric anyway. ? Bring Super Strike Darters, and 11/2 oz bucks, I told Eric.? ? ?What color?? He asked. Doesn?t matter, was my response. We made our way near the lighthouse where we banged a couple of stripers. I did not think the first spot was going to produce to well as it was the wrong tide. We left to another North side spot where the tide was more favorable. We moved out into the night surf into chest high water. Decent waves coming into keep you on your toes. I let Eric know that we should be into fish rather quickly. YES! Immediately. We banged about 40 bass to 18 lbs between us-many teen fish. All on SS black, brown and yellow darters. Lots of Mullet and snappers in the wash. Darter = the perfect match. Finally- a little hard ? core fishin! I was content. By 4am or so it was time for some sleep. Up at 12pm to get ready for my 2pm SUNDAY charter. Korker repair, eat, and shower was the routine. 2pm-8pm I met up with Karon and Steve Kryen. A husband and wife team. We bounced around looking for fish and eventually found them on the North side. BLITZ! Mostly blues but some decent stripers mixed in to about 30?. I warned Steve to let me handle taking the bluefish off the Lex 3oz pencils, but ya gotta listen to the guide. Yep. A hook right trough the index finger. The hook was attached to the blue, and Steves finger at the same time. That is a place nobody ever wants to be. We got the hook out, and Steve toughed it out the rest of the evening. In total we banged countless blues and about a dozen or so bass. All on Lex, Gags, and Gibbs 3 oz pencil poppers. Yeah- I know- BUT sometimes ya just gotta throw the Jersey death machine. After a nice dinner at Sausages I was in my buggy by 9:30pm and awake by 11:30pm to get ready for my 12am MONDAY charter with Rich Troy. Rich was pretty seasoned, which made me happy because we could do a little hard- core fishing. We hit the North side and waded out to some secret rocks. With waves smacking into us we immediately found Stripers. The first Rich landed was about 18lbs. The next 15 or so were all 26-27 inches. All the fish were on darters. Eventually I made the decision to get deeeeeeeeeeeeeeep on the south side. We walked and walked only to find dirty water. By 4:30am I decided to head back North out of the dirt. We waded out into false dawn, back on some secrets rocks. At this point the tide was flooding and we were at the mercy of the waves. Rich hooked into a mid teen bass on a yellow SS darter. We had a couple other fish as well. By 6am the charter was supposed to be over, but what the ****, I felt like fishin. We moved around the North side and found blitzing blues and banged a few of those buggers. We went our separate ways by about 7am. After breakfast I was crashed out in my buggy by 9am. Up at 12:45pm to get ready for my 3-9pm Monday charter. Reel repair sucks, especially stripped gears. The gears on the slammer just are plain crap, BUT NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, reel any reel when you cannot move a fish, or the drag is going out. You will STRIP the gears! Anyway my 3pm-9pm was with Anthony Safonte and his buddy Andrea. SW winds moved to light NW, and the heave that had been big through the weekend laid low. Still the South was dirty. It was Andreas first time surf casting, so we had about one hours of casting lessons. At this point the south side was still dirty so we were limited. We eventually managed to find our own bass and blues on the north side. 4or 5 bass and a few blues on pencils. At night I only managed one bass on the North side on a green bomber. Nothing for the boyz on eels. Back out tomorrow ?Stay tuned!

Fishing Report:
With a 4-6 foot heave, little wind, and no slop, I figured fishing the tides for my 5pm-9pm charter would be a little easier to find fish than my 2:30am-8: 30am. I was right. FRIDAY 5pm-9pm, I took fellow subscriber Jamie Romm into the South Side. Jamie said, ? I hear it?s been slow, do you think we will catch anything?. I can?t remember what my response was, but it was one of confidence as we had good water, and a good tide for dusk into night. In the south we only managed one schoolie on a white on white 11/2 oz bucktail. **** surfers were everywhere. By dusk we hit the North side, and Jamie sunk a BOB HAHAN metal lip into a nice 18lber. By 9pm we managed the 18, a pair of 16, and a 14. We quit a little early, and Jamie seemed to be a happy Rat (see pick below). By 10 pm I was passed out in my buggy. To be honest I could not sleep b/c I wanted to go back out and catch the high ebb, but I controlled myself knowing I needed to save my wrist, and a little sleep probably was not going to hurt as well. By 2am I was up preparing for my 2:30am-8: 30am SATURDAY charter. I figured we would use the heave to our advantage so we got deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep on the south side, only to find zeeeeeeero. By 5am we were on the North side, where I banged a schoolie on a black SS darter. We bounced around on the north side until 615am without another touch. By 6:30 am we were on the south side again. I saw a big pod of bait through the binoculars, so we hoofed it quickly to try and fish it. By the time we arrived most of the bait was gone. The other casters I spoke to were discussions of disappointment. We then made our way to the sand beaches. Nothing showing. Over to the back bays to jump on the flats?nothin! I am resting now and will be back in it tonight at 1am. By the way, the second fly boy boat this week wiped out in the suds. Everyone was OK!! MMM mmmm MMM! Stay tuned!

Fishing Report:
Been working and fishing my ass off, and it is only going to get better, so here is the last two nights down and dirty. TUESDAY 5pm-11pm. My charter and I fished Fire Island Inlet. We bounced around from spot to spot fishing the tides, but found no fish. Light winds, and clean water. WEDNESDAY- I took my charter to hit FI inlet once again from 5pm-8pm. This time we had great water. Clean and white. My charter had one quality fish on an 11/2 oz bucktail, but dropped it. It should happen very soon in this area as the bait is starting to move. I will be in MECCA Thursday though Monday. I will try to give you reports in-between charters, but I gotta tell it will not be easy, as it will be literally EAT, SLEEP, FISH! Does anyone have an ax so I can chop off my wrist! Stay tuned!

Fishing Report:
Due to cancellation I have September 23 from 1am-7am OPEN. This one is potentially a great night, and one of the best dates of the year. The bait is around, there has been a steady pick of fish, the new moon is on the 22nd, so it will be a dark one. YUMMMM! If you are interested in this trip you must already have some skills in place, as it is the middle of the night and will involve lots of rock hopping possibly in big water. SO you need to be in decent shape and have a good cast. Call me if you are interested 631-987-6919.

Fishing Report:
I would not call this one a great weekend, but not bad. Clean white water, however no slop, and sunny days. Not optimal. SATURDAY 4am-10am. I took 15 year-old Danny Pilliteri and his Dad John out. It was Danny?s first time hitting Montauk hard-core, and he did a great job! You should see this kid cast! We hit the North side and found stripers and blues in the dark on SS yellow darters. Danny seemed to be banging them one after another. By light Danny found a few more on Lex 3 oz pencils. Then it was over to another North side spot where Danny met MR BOB HAHN, at least his plugs anyway. Danny dropped a very decent fish at his feet and plowed another with MR Hahn. Then it was over to the south side for no more fish. Probably about a dozen bass or so and a few blues. Way to go Danny! By 1am I was in the lot repairing korkers, doing reel maintenance, and changing hooks. FUN! Asleep in the buggy by 1:30-2:30 and meeting my SATURDAY 3pm-9pm, after a couple of quick burgers compliments of Foul Mouth Bob. This time it was Richard Mischkin, with bight sunshine and clean 4-5? sets on the south side. We hit the North side for a couple of blues on red head white body 3oz Lex pencils, then over to the south side for a little striper in the wash on a bucktail. Back over to the North for dusk, only to find it to be pretty dead. I made a suggestion to do a little light tackle fishing in Napeague Bay. It was agreed, and we made the run. Good tide, and I knew there would be fish. We managed about 10 schoolies between us on olive mambo minnows. Light tackling-yum. YES yum, but that light tackle stuff sure did mess up my wrist. It is at about 20% again. After a little pizza dinner it was back to the lot at 11pm, trying to sleep in my buggy. Mosquitoes kept me awake most of the night, as I was eaten alive. Should have brought the window screens! Up at 3:45 am for my 4:30 am ?10:30 am SUNDAY charter with a Sam who is new to our sport. In the dark, after teaching Sam the basics, I banged a decent mid teen bass, on a yellow SS darter. By day we bounced around on the North side and even got deeeeeeeeeeeeep on the South, only to find nothing. Eventually we made our way to the flats of Napeague bay. Nothin. Now I am home nursing my wrist and a couple of brews. South shore on Tuesday?Stay TUNED!

Fishing Report:
I was psyched to fish with Ed Sullivan last night. Ed has been my customer/friend since I began guiding, and time just seems to fly every time we fish. This one was from 5pm-11: 30pm with NE winds about 15-20knots. Dark night out there! We took a peek in the fort as a pod or two of fish were blitzing. ? Do ya want blitz fish or go for something else?? I asked. Ed said ? I don?t take ya out for blitz fish?. Gotta love it! So we got deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep on the south side to fish the white clean water. To my surprise it was pretty dead. Only two small bass and a blue on pencils and 11/2 red on white bucks. By 8pm we were on the North side catching the last of the ebb, at a spot I like for that tide. Immediately we were into fish as ED slammed a nice mid teen bass on a yellow SS darter. On the walk into the surf I spooked a needlefish, so I eventually I put on a SS black and purple needle, and whack! ?I was into fish. I hooked up with two more decent stripers and then put on a needle for Ed. Ed slammed another, but after a short time the bite just died. We made a move to another low out spot for no results. I advised ED that I wanted to be at a particular North side spot for the turn of the tide that should produce with the NE winds. We arrived to find lots of snappers on the shoreline. After about 15 minutes without a bump, I ran my darter parallel to the shore in the white water. BUMP! Yep the stripers were feeding off the snappers tight to the beach. We only managed two more decent fish, but it was fun figuring them out. We moved to one more spot on the North side, but there just was not enough of a swell for it to produce. 8stripers and a couple of blues?decent night. The wrist? It is getting better?I would say 80%.
