Others will tell you differently but I've heard from many reliable sources that Thursdays on the Marlin VI when Captain Ed Beneducci is running the boat is the place you want to be as long as you don't mind the boat coming back late if the fish don't stop biting. If you go, be prepared for switching rigs and the fish you will target throughout the day. It's not unusual to target Stripers & Blues at the point in the morning, switch over to porgies/sea bass when the tide starts to change and then over to fluke when the tide is steaming.

Does capt ed still run the marlin v1? i have fished with this great capt before and last oct made my annual trip to montauk and fished with him on the marlin v1. great capt. caught lots of fish. i am planning my trip for this year and need to know what boat he is running as i find him the best thank you. dave

When the fishing is hot I feel any boat will put you into fish, especially in Montalk! It's when the fishing is tough that certain captains shine, It's during these times that you should read the reports and make notes of the boats/captains that consistantly put their fares into fish! Fall in Montalk, does it get any better?

I have fished the Lazy Bones and the Sea Otter both require resevations, thay have links on this site.
Both Capt. will do there best to get you into fish but remember it is a party boat.
If you are going this week Wenesday looks to be about the best day out there for sea conditions.
I just spent the W/E out there on my own boat and Sunday was lost because of the wind and rain. Wen. it is only supposed to be about 10 out of the south. Thats what you want. You will enjoy yourself a lot more and I believe if you get the mourning trip you will have the last of the incoming.
I talked myself into it I'll be out there too.
