i was wondering if anyone who fishes montauk can give me some spots i can go to for blackfish this fall. i have heard cerebrus, but right now its loaded with porgys. what about southwest ledge? there are some nice pieces on it. any info would be appreciated. thanks

Southwest Ledge is a fine spot (when the tide is not moving swiftly), but don't count on any significant blackfish catches until late October and November for the Montauk area. Cerebrus is not the producer it once was, but I've done well at Cartwright in November. Don't forget running north to Fisher's Island -- same distance as to Block Island. Better consistency and fishing if you plan to devote a whole day. No shortage of locations to fish too...
