After waiting for the lightning to pass, we headed out to the 50 line off lauderdale in the Hydro Glo Summer Slam. After about 30 minutes we hooked up and landed this fish. It hit a rigged squid on the surface with a purple light. Shortly after we missed another on the 250' bait. About an hour later we had a screaming runoff at 350'. Slammed the reel to strike and it didn't even slow the fish down at all. As we were clearing the other baits the fish shot off behind the boat and came to the top. Almost all the baits in and the fish didn't even stop running. The last bait to come in tangled and we burned the fish off MAJOR BUMMER! Got ourselves over it and set the baits again. Short runoff on the surface bait again and the bait was slashed, no hook up. At about 2:45 we had one more bite on the 350' bait and got sucked off. Ended up with the one but good action. In the end there were 10 fish caught. This one actually was in the top 5. Congrats to the winning crews, especially Bouncers awsome 545 lb slob. I'll be up there next week so I will see you guys in the canyon.

i rread that they let the long linners back in ,so enjoy it while you can,

IIRC they let three boats in and only one can fish at a time with half of the sets outside the closed area. Not good, but not a disaster.

I think the boats have to fish north of Canaveral and are limmited to inline circle hooks only. Definately not good and probably will affect the north east canyons because the fish move from here to there, now they will get long lined in between.
