A loophole in the rules governing Mediterranean tuna means the species could disapeer from the region within a couple years. The EU sets quotas for fishing & farming but a practice called post-harvesting involves catching wild tuna & keeping them in cages before slaughter to get around the rules.
These are the BFT in the waters off Spain, Italy & Croatia.
Now with a species like BFT this is bad news for us as well? The article goes on to say 90% of the BFT is shipped to Japan for Sushi, and more interesting stuff.
