im gonna dawn patrol montauk thursday. i am gonna leave sometime after midnight wed. plan on fishing north of the light house on the rocks and walking the point to turtles at dawn. should i bother with bait and if so what kind. also what should be my lures of choice i was gonna go ceder plugs am 2 oz zkastmaster and jelly shads. ive been out there a few times but not for more that a tide or 2 at a time and have yet to land a keeper from the shore. any tips tword that goal would be greatly appreciated thank you and tight lines

Get yourself 2 bunker and store them in your pocket. Make your way directly under the lighthouse and cast out into the rip with no weight (I think I learned this gem from Matt the pro). Make sure there are competent surfcasters below you because you will be fishing from the top of the rocks (this is the best spot btw). I have never heard of anyone fishing with korkers at Montauk I think they only use those on jetties and I've never seen a post before helping with fishing Montauk. The chances of you nailing not just a "keepah" but a "fitty" are in your favor. Make sure you snoopy rod is fully loaded with fresh 10# mono because you want that cow to you give the best fight on "light tackle". Oh and if anyone yells at you for baitfishing a pluggers paradise tell em its a free country and you can fish wherever you please or sumthin. Have fun!
