Thought i would star a new post for the new year.
WE are planning to start up again for spring cod the second weekend of March.These would be so called local cod trips, not our offshore wreck trips.WE will probably leave at 6 am. I will definitely post exact times and days when we get closer.

That used to be a very productive venue in SHB back in the early 70s. Baseball bat sized fish were common. It's all just a fading memory now.

Spent many day's and nights drifting Ambrose, filling 50 gal drums with baseball bat sized whiting with my father. We will never see those days return, at least not in our lifetime, sad to say.

I used to walk the Rockaway Beaches with a burlap bag on a strong SE wind and pick them from the wash. Frost Fish anyone?

Talk about old days, the last whiting trip I can remember was on New Years day on the Helen H before she left sheepshead bay. Fished with 3 guys no longer with us.
