Spacing depends on the size and number of the lures/skirts your using and what kind of configuration you're setting up. With large squid shells the spacing can be 3 feet or more when rigged on a daisy chain. With smaller lures/skirts you'll bring them closer There's no cardinal rule. What your shooting for is maximum presentation while maintaining manageability.
