Hey, all of you traveling fisherman!

I'll be heading up to Maine for about a week in a couple of days. ALthough, I won't have time to fish much (well maybe I can sneak some in), I wondering - Is there any hard to find bait that I can pick up, while up there? Take an extra cooler and stock up?

Also, any saltwater fishing recommendations? In case i get the opportunity? I'll be in southern Me. Sebago Lake to be exact. 40 min from Portland or Saco.

Going to try to buy something from Walt while I'm there. I hope he doesn't try to sell ME on this site!

Thanks a lot, for any ideas, suggestions.

Drop me an e-mail if you are willing to travel to Cape Elizabeth out side Portland. I have a striper spot there that will have you arm tired. You wont need anything more that a 7' casting rod to reach them. I have family that live in Cape. Been going there for many years. If you are interested I'll give you directions. My brother has fished it quite a few times with many 40+ fish. LMK.

I visit my friends home in bothbay each year around late september. How is your spot at that time of year??

We fished several times with a charter who fishes the beaches with little success.

Maybe we can all hook up. We are comming up from Florida and we would recepricate and put you on fish here !!!

right now saco bay area is having some great striper and blue fish blitzes along the beaches saco bait and tackle is always helpful in directing to where the fish are. In oct it will be mostly stripers but for not much longer. but cod and jumbo pollack will be great to fish for. the bunny clark out of oqungiut is a good party boat but you need reservations also not much difference in baits from here to there. hope this helps dave

What are are you going to be near. I'm pretty sure you said Boothbay. Are you looking to fish the surf or by boat? NewHampshire gave you some good info. I have found bait wise late in the year up there bunker was our best bet. Where we would fish the Bass would coral up the bunker in an area called "the pen" large fish would consistently spit up whole bunker. Also from the beach tins/poppers will produce. And if you flyfish you will increase your odds. LMK exactly where you are going to be. The area I am familiar with are around Cape Elizabeth.

Problemsolver, How long is the drive from Boothbay to Cape Elizabeth? I like to fish your spot. Ideally, it would be great to find a guide or charter at that area since I will not be able to take my fishing gear with me. Any suggestions?

Tks.

I would guess 1.5 to 2 hours to drive. Boothbay must also be good for fishing. I'd look there as well. Cape Elizabeth is nice though. I was there in July. Didn't catch though. Spent most of my time helping my goddaughter climb the rocks and exploring tidal pools. There is a good bait n tackle shop on rt.1 in the Scarburough area.

Saco is also a good bet; its a little farther south than Cape Eliz. (not much)

If you can hook up with Problemsolved's adviose, go for it.
