Can anyone tell me when the mackerel normally show up in Jersey and close will they come to Raritan Bay. I have decided to give them a try this year and basically I am looking for When, where and how information.

Surf Dweller, It depends on where you fish. I believe you live in eastern Long Island. Togmaster is right. We start catching mackerel last week of March or first week of April in Cape May, NJ depending on the water temperature. In mid April they show up off Belmar, NJ and migrate northeast. Spring mackerel are spawners. They are big, but they don't stay one area for a longtime unlike fall and winter fishing.
