We experimented Madai jigs, which is very similar to Shimano's new jig. It worked, but I am not sure it worked better than other normal jigs. I guess fluke fishermen are eager to try the jigs for fluke.
I don't think the jigs become popular among cod fishermen as hooks are too small for cod.

OOOOOhh, double rigging.

This way you can leave $35-$40 bucks on the Ocean floor everytime you get hung up.

I also like the two colors that represent shellfish. What action to you impart to imitate a clam or oyster?

Brilliant marketing.

I saw the jigs and the promo DVD and was not impressed. Probably ok for fluke, sea bass but not for larger codfish in deep water.

Dont forget along with the jigs you need the "special shimano reel and rod" to make them work...only a $600+ investment. Another marketing ploy to reel in some fisherman.

I'll agree the video or promo was a joke. All you have to do is reel it a few feet from the bottom for most bottom fish LOL. If that's the case, why would anyone need a rod of their own. It's pretty funny. Although I think it might have an application for fluke, they're overpriced and like others have said the SHIMANO Mai Dai or DUEL Salty were a bust anyway. I fished the mai dai to no end and had limited success fluking on multiple occassions.

If they end up working, sure the money will be worth it and I'll jump on board, but I will wait and see first. I applaud Shimano for introducing creative lures, whether they catch fisherman or fish. THe only way to know if something will work is to try it.

I have no intention to give negative comments on those jigs.
Users will decide. If the jigs outfish Spro bucktail for fluke, it will be a big hit. I heard the internet shop Tackledirect sold over 600 jigs within a week.
Shimano knows how to sell their products.

Going to take a pass on this one. Bought about $500.00 worth of butterflys, knifes, hopper, etc. and don 't beleive they work any better than my old standbys' raiders, hammered and a few other select jigs. Tried the raiders using the jerk and crank method and they worked well also. Am pretty much convinced its' covering the water column that produces which many pers. have done a long time.
Just my thoughts.

In their video they claim they tried and replaced the hooks with larger ones but the hook up ratio was much better on the smaller hooks.Yes, that is what they claim. There are proper different hook sizes for different fish. I tend to use smaller hooks as possible.
However, there are times when bigger hooks are more effective.
