i need to add a bow spirt to my little mako. i took a real nice 2x6, bolted a roller to the end and thought it would work. the problem is that the front of the mako has a little inch and a quarter lip that the wood will have to clear....so my little afternoon project flopped. i am looking into an aluminum one now. very simple with a roller on the end. very simple but clearing the lip of the boat is a pain in the azz. any ideas?

Before you give up on your wood pulpit, why not consider fabricating a shim setup for under your pulpit with a pair of 3/4" Starboard pieces? That would put your teak pulpit 1/4" ABOVE your glass combing - saving it any stress when/if you hang that anchor and have to give a little throttle to break it loose?

It can be done - and fairly easily at that. If you like, you can stop down by my boat here in Seaford and take a look at a similar situation on my rig.

Seeing is worth a thousand typed words.

best, Lep

I did what Lep said to my 23' Bought a pre-fab 4'X16" seagull diving board (that's what Lou DiBlasio called them) and shimmed it with teak. Mounted a Simpson Lawrence 500 to it. Worked nice. Gebby's got it now if you want a look
