Hello All,
Long time reader, first time post. I am interested in joining a fishing club. I live in Amityville and fish both the bay and outside, and also from the surf. Hopefully someone can stear me in the right direction. I'd like to hear any and all suggestions for getting organized if it comes to it. But I'm sure there are groups already in place. I just need some info. So, lets hear whats out there. Thanks for your time. -jim

Many clubs still require you to "know someone".

Sounds crazy, but many of the clubs are private and do not have open enrollment. You will need to be "voted in". There are various reasons why some of them may still operate this way, but I'll leave it to your imagination to figure out why you will probably need a current member to sponsor you.

I don't know where you live or fish pudintime, but Beckmans Bait and Tackle in Lynbrook had a few clubs posted on their bulliten board that were looking for new members a while back. If you don't live near there, maybe if you give them a call they can give you the info.
