anyone know if keeping lobsters for bait or food is illegal without a lobster permit?
several times this year ive caught lobsters of all sizes while live biat fishing with herring
they seem to get tangled in the line
a friend told me if you are not using traps and you accidently snag one he's yours to keep.
is this true?

I would call the Mass. Fish and Game Dept. to find out the regulations regarding sizes and permits. Best to hear it from those that will be giving you the fine otherwise. Make sure you get a name and title for the person you speak to and the section of law they are referencing.
