I'm a newbie and I've been out only a few times but I keep on hearing about surf fishing on Little Neck Bay and wondering where on Little Neck Bay people fish? I'm only familiar with the NYC side of LNB where the Fort Totten pier and the marina is. But the area along the CrossIslandExpressway looks pretty fishless. Any ideas on where people catch fish on LNb from the surf? Do people seriously catch fish from the NYC side of the Bay or are the reports on LNB from the Great NEck, Douglaston side?

This time of year, LNB is hardly "fishless".

Go to the Eastern terninus of 35th Av. park, and cross the footbridge. Walk to your RIGHT (when facing the water).

After the last bench, there will be some trees between you and the water, there is a path through them. Get there three hours into the tide, this is an INCOMING spot, but only the TOP of the incoming. Use bucktails or sandworms, the fish are rooting in the warm mud.

The idea is, you want low tide to be in the morning, so the midday sun warms the mud. When the water comes in, the fish comes with it. There is a lull at high slack, and usually one more shot on the outgoing, but not as long lasting as the incoming.

Come June, disregard this entire pattern!
