Line for shimano tld 15

I'm getting a tld 15 for yellowfin and i want to put braid on it but I can't justify 150$ for a 1500 yd spool. I was wondering if i could put 175yds of 50 lb mono backing then put 500 yds of power pro so it only costs 50$. Would this work? any ideas help, thanks!
