yes the post is gone. and yes the other fishing mag is one of the sponsors of the show. and there was a paid advertisement for the expo right here on noreast. the long island fishermans expo is about as important as it gets to the recreational community. it seems that every thread that had a mention of the expo was removed. as recreationals we all need to be on the same page for our best interests.
i certainly hope things are not going down like it seems. for if the expo is getting black balled the entire recreational fishing community is getting black balled. the expo is not for the other fishing mag at all. it is for all of us recreational fisherman!

It may have something to do with another fishing mag sponsoring it would be my guess.. glad you posted it
the other big publication was only 1 of the sponsors. noreast could have sponsored the expo as well. the expo where all proceeds go towards the cause of all recreational fisherman. its also funny how there was a paid advertisement for the expo on here as well. it should have never been removed. this hurts each and every recreational angler.

Would you allow you main competitor's name tobe plastered all over you website?
That depends..I believe in this instance, and for the benefit of recreational fishing here in NY, we are stronger in numbers. Competitors or not, it benefits the fishing community. This is an example of when competition should be put aside for the greater good.

"ALL PROCEEDS GO TO BENEFIT RECREATIONAL FISHING ON LONG ISLAND"
For once I would like an explanation of where the money actually goes. How are we benefiting form this.
Tide since you are pushing this expo here do you have the answer?
Ditto....research???Development???? or some groups pockets?
I'll support this if I knew more about them. Is there a link?
The proceeds go to the coalition. Members of the coalition include LIBBA, MSA and many fishing clubs throughout our area. Membership in the coalition is also open to individuals. The coalition fights for us in albany, lobbys politicians for our recreational fishing rights and helps fight or support bills as it pertains to those rights. Basically, it pays for the expenses for them to fight for us. Any member of the coalition has access to the financial statements.
For more information on the coalition, anyone can email Mr. Willy Young at [email protected]

Easy for you to say when its not coming out of your pocket! Remember this is a business, and the people who work for this business have to make money to stay in business. Plus the proceeds do not go to benefit "all recreational fishermen" they mainly go to benefit the members of some fishing clubs. I'll wager (though we'll never really know) that Geroge and Nor'east (both the magazine and the website) have done more to further the casue of ALL recreational fishermen, than this coalition ever has.
What does MSA stand for? Is it a Montauk based surf association? Fishing clubs? Which ones? LIBBA and MSA, what about RFA and Saltwater Sportsmen Association? How come they are not mentioned? I still don't see how this helps the party boat fisherman, or the private boat owner, or the guy crabbing at Wellwood Ave?
Also are the sponsors paying for the rental of the space at SUNY or is it being taken out of the admission?
Crabman,
Vendors pay to have a booth at the show. As far as your other questions..as stated before, you can email Willy Young for any info or questions you may have.
MakoMike..I won't get into a back and forth with you, you are a good guy and I respect your opinions and the info you provide here on a plethora of subjects, but this is a good cause, and the coalition is open to individual members, not just fishing clubs.
guys..look at the big picture here. Any group that helps fight for fishing rights is a good cause. I myself donated to the United Boatman's raffle a few years back. what does that have to do with me? I build surf plugs? well, it's a good cause, it benefits FISHING. From the surf or a boat, doesn't matter. I want the same opportunity and access to fishing that I have now and had as a kid for my children in the future, that's the bottom line.
I help run a benefit for Send A Kid Fishing program through another site, a surf fishing site. The children that benefit from this program go fishing on party boats. Again, I am a plug builder, I make plugs for surf fishing, why pitch in to send kids on a party boat? Well, you know the answer to that.

mike, with all due respect do you know how much Willy has done?
I don't. Who is he associated with?
BTW don't take this as a hit against this expo. I just want to know if what they say is fact or is this only going to benefit a select group. And if it does benefit a select group, that is not a capital offense. I'm just being curious.
