BoatGuy,

No one teaser works all the time. We all have experienced fluke wanting one color in the AM, and another in the PM. It's been my experience that when there is a lot of bait in the water the fluke are not very aggressive. That's when I switch over to the wide profile pattern. The wide profile catches their eye and it's game on.

The WP pattern has caught large fluke in skinny water. I have many buddies that fish Moriches and Shinne**** Bays. Most of the fishing I do is in the ocean.

Lep can attest to the first picture posted - wide profile. He was on that trip - Celtic Quest. The fluke below were caught on my regular and wide profile teasers.

Good luck this season.

FlyTimes,

I normally use a thin strip of squid and a spearing to sweeten the pattern. I have caught fluke & sea bass on the teasers without bait. The more lifelike the designs appear, the easier it is to fool the fish.

Shep from J&H caught a 12.5 blackfish on the lobster fly without bait. Also Capt. Vinny Catalano has been catching stripers using the lobster and mantis on his fly rod for years. He fishes shallow water (LI Sound). I had no problem catching sea bass south of Block on the crab.

I'm heading out on the north shore Saturday morning and I was looking to get some really small teasers, (sand eel teasers) something along those lines and of course, like always I wait to the last minute to do things. Any tackle shop make teasers that small that I can pick up? I have a bunch of Harvey's teasers (which I love!) just looking to go a little smaller.

Thanks!
