The answer to your question is both yes and no. It was built in 2003, from lines taken from a 22' Mackenzie, and expanded a bit.

I swing a 28x25 3 blade with a #6 cup. Tried a 4 blade this season and didn't like it so went back too the three. 4 blade was slower and burned more fuel.

The boats got all the creature comforts for nice canyon trips, A/C, heat, dinette, bunks, like I said alot of weight even before I load her up with fuel and ice.

Beautiful boat! I didn't think anyone could afford to make a wooden boat.

Assume its wood. Where was it built. Woodend Boat magazine did a feature story on the Mackenzie boats. There is one on the Bass River that always catches my eye. I also saw one going up the Thames River in New London last summer.

The boat is wood. A smooth, cold molded bottom, triple planked with a layer of kevlar in it. Topsides are lapstrake okoume plywood. Everything coated with epoxy. All paint is Awlgrip. Teak decks and covering boards.

We have a Mackenzie boat club, consisting of boat owners and enthusiasts. We had a rendezvous at Mystic last summer. There are about 100 surviving boats, but we don't know how many were built.

The boat in Bass River, was it at the Rt. 28 bridge? Blue, or white? I've worked on both of them. Incredibly strong boats. They are quite nice.

There's what I believe is a restored Mckenzie in Cold Spring Harbor, NY. The boat's name is "Pelican" and I believe it was once owned by Herbie Hahn of Cold Spring Charters who now runs a 31' Sizu. It white with Navy accents and sits just south of Billy Joel Park. Absolute Beauty. I keep thinking in time I'll restore an old Lyman which I'm fond of.

The boat was just north of the bridge on a mooring. You don't see many Mackenzies for sale. Every once and awhile there is one in Wooden Boat. I saw one a few years ago in Free Boats section. It was gone before magazine came out.

Nice to see that they are being kept alive. Truely beautiful and functional boats. Did you read the Wooden Boat article on the history?
What does the boat in picture have in it for power?

tunaorlater Im very surprised that the 4 blade didnt work for you alot of guys go to a 5 what canyons do you fish were do you run out of there is some water coming from the east cant wait

Its a long story but that hull runs better with a three blade prop than any other, unlike most downeast boats.

I fish out of Fire Island, I fish from the tails to the toms but spend most of my time in the hudson.

The MacKenzie north of the Bass River bridge is a 30'. It has a 315hp Mercruiser. It moves, 25k top end. Cruise at 3k of 18. I put a new bottom on it a few years ago.

Yes, several friends collaborated on the WB article. We also had one in On the Water and Soundings.

The pictured boat has a 164hp Steyr in it. 23k top end, 19k cruise. I've been as far as the south side of the Dump. Bass fishing, the engine burns about 1 1/2 gph, for the trip. On tuna trips it's about 2 1/2gph.

Our charterboat during the 1980's - Linesider. 35 Foot Bruno & Stillman built in 1979.

Glad that we have the 35 Henriques Express these days but this boat weathered many storms and caught tons of bigeyes and giant bluefins.

I have some friends with 35 ft Bruno's. Great sea boats and easily driven with good fuel economy. I noticed that your front windows are covered. I took mine out in the Harris. They always leaked and were too thin for comfort.

Other then speed what advantages do you see of Henriques over Bruno.

They are both nice boats. My Harris does 14-15 knots and there are times I would really like to go 20+ and not climb up and down ladder all day.

Come on now....she ain't that bad!!! I had her in some good 6 ft'ers already, and yeah she's got some bow steer but nothing any competent captain can't handle!! I'll tell you one thing though...that boat likes to throw some water!!
