Sandman is right on, using leader material will make the bait/lure sit better in the water and keep rocks or the fish from abrading through the line. However using a leader material that is too heavy can ruin the action of some lures and cause the bait to go untouched.

Hello Seling, that is an excellent question and Sandman hit it on the money! A leaders and Fluorocarbon leader has several steps of different materials (fabric/fiber/contents) which require additional handling, hence, different pricing structure. Fencer04 is also right! Using excessive lbs. to a lure will kill the action of the lure (or bait) which will shy the fish away.

Just curious… what kind of leaders where you reffering to?
