leaders for tins

Hi Crazy:

I would appreciate it if you could please answer the following question.

I surfcast for weaks and fluke...usually in Jamaica Bay...I wanted to also try kastmasters, charlie graves tins...My mono line is 15 lb. test..I was told to use a duolock snap swivel with a leader attached to the tin. Does this also apply to a 1 or 1.5 Crippled herring?

Hello Mudman,

If you are using 15 lbs. test for weaks and fluke? I highly recommend a leader regardless of what you are using!

Since you are planning to use 1 and 1.5 crippled herring, I definitely would use a short 6?-10? 20lbs. test fluorocarbon leader for added insurance and the snap swivel will also give the extra action (natural / swinging) the lure needs!
