what have been people's experience with the extra sharp hooks for bottom fishing from gamakatsu, owner, daiichi, etc? are they worth the price premium vs. hooks like those from eagle claw?

i'd say so. My favorites are the octopus hooks. Not only do they say sharp longer, they are super strong so they won;t break under the pressure of a large fish. It's happened.

A friend of mine swears by the Gamakatsu hooks, and I tried them for fluke. I did notice that less fish were lost with them, and they shonuff are sharp. But, wow - expensive too. That'll just teach me to keep my cheap 4/0 sproats sharpened more often!
