I have been down this path before and was talked out of a net for bass.
What are you trying to land ? If fluke , a net is a must. If blues, not worth getting them tangled up in a net. If bass, any bass worth netting is going to need a very large net which wont be practical on the yak. Typically bass will go belly up when you get them close , so lipping them with your hand or a boga grip would be your best bet. Boga grip highly recommended for blues also.
