I have been down this path before and was talked out of a net for bass.

What are you trying to land ? If fluke , a net is a must. If blues, not worth getting them tangled up in a net. If bass, any bass worth netting is going to need a very large net which wont be practical on the yak. Typically bass will go belly up when you get them close , so lipping them with your hand or a boga grip would be your best bet. Boga grip highly recommended for blues also.

I use too use a net, but I stopped using it because of the extra work it is to get that little monster BlueFish especially when the treble hook gets in the way. My technique is not smart at all, but it works so far, I throw the Blue in front of me
, and I stab him over the head, within seconds he's dead. Again, I agree with ELIASV
