Wondering if the MB 114 3F untrimmed or slightly trimmed (#7 or #8)is still a fast enough blank to move 3-5 ounce bucktails for ocean fluke and striper fishing. Even though I haven't fished the one that I have trimmed to #11, there's something about that fast progressive action that i really like.

TJL65....The newer Lamiglass blanks are not made with the thicker walls we saw on the early predecessors, thus they will not work the jig as well. This blank would not be my first preference for a bucktail blank, especially since it comes with a 8 tip to begin with, and you would have to trim it from the butt to get it to a reasonable length for this type of fishing. With the new composites we have now on the market, that would be the best way to go.
