I used to fish there a lot as a kid but your best bet would be to talk to to a local tackle shop to see what they would recommend. We used to do well fishing the Songo River in the spring during the smelt run but at this time of year the salmon and trout would be down deep. The water gets very deep right at the mouth of the Songo and a live bait on the bottom should produce something for you.
Another suggestion for a day trip would be to go all the way up the Songo to the locks and the through the locks up to Long Pond.

Forget trout from shore at this time of year. The water is way too warm. You'll need to get down to the thermocline which will be at least 40 feet down if not deeper.

Even for brookies, rainbow, and brown??

Deep water for Togue. Alot a guys will drift small suckers over a togue hole.

Find a thermacline for Salmon. Will be slow for that.

For brookies, get in a car and hit the brooks north and west of there. Except they have too much water right now

exactly. planing devices are a fun alternative to lead core, since lots of the salmon will be under 20 inches.

Good luck finding the creeks with trout, which I suspect will be quite small.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have a good smallmouth bass fishery, but the lake is famed for it's lake trout (Togue) and landlocked salmon.
