If ya plan to fish,there avoid the lake near the Village "Tourist Trap" area. Head Noth from Bolton on North. Greater fishing up towards the Fort Ticonderoga Area. Bit of a drive though but worth it. No fishing at the Ft. property though.

Agreed. I used to go with some friends at the end of every summer for a while. Used to stay in the village, but rent a boat at Jerry's or Port Jerry futher north.
Best memory...after not doing well one last afternoon, I prepared to go and dumped bait bucket. Suddenly the water is swarming with smallmouths! Of course I stayed trying to capitalize on the situation. Don't recall doing any better, but fished for another couple hours anyway. Now late departing, I sped home. Got pulled over for speeding. Explained to the officer what transpired at the lake. Fortunately, he was an outdoorsman himself and wrote me up for "No Seatbelt" (which I was wearing) vs. an expensive speeding ticket with points.
